A community crafting immersive, intentional, and communal sonic journeys.
Feel the SPACE is a mindful music collective dedicated to creating sacred, sensory, and human centered listening experiences. Founded in 2020 in a Brooklyn living room, it has since evolved into a community of thousands who gather for intimate, phone-free events that blend meditation, sound healing, live performance, and storytelling.
A distinctive and genre-bending collective whose gatherings can feel intentionally atypical or mysterious from the outside, we sat down with Feel the SPACE to learn more about their origins, their approach to experience design, what fuels their community, and what the future holds for them.
What sparked Feel the SPACE? How has it evolved since 2020?
Feel the SPACE started in the living room of a Brooklyn brownstone in January 2020. Our Founder, Alex Tyree, was inspired by a deeply personal longing or need to experience music in a communal way that felt safe, sensual, soulful, and mostly sacred. Something that went beyond the noise of our lives, and beneath the surface of the masks we often wear.
Now, after over half a decade of designing beautiful moments, it’s transformed beyond a personal longing into a collective calling.
We’ve evolved into a multi-tiered music community of thousands, curation company, and experiential partner. Having partnered with artists, brands, festivals, organizations, and cultural spaces to bring human-centered experiences to life. Whether curating a brand collaboration or crafting a community moment, we are a space where artistry and wellness meet in a way that feels intimate and alive.
The heart is still the same, but the community has become intergenerational, more engaged, and invested in the environment we’re designing together.
We’ve grown because people at each stage kept saying: “I needed this.”
What do Feel the SPACE events look and feel like? How do you plan them?
Each experience is designed as a journey rather than a show. Think meditation meets sultry listening room meets communal ritual.
We curate it all—from lighting, to aroma, to the emotional character of the sound—to create an environment where people can feel the harmony within. We often include a blend of meditation, sound healing, live performance, musicianship, storytelling, and sometimes DJ sets.
We’re also grateful to have kept a no-phone policy, since our beginning. It has allowed beautiful moments of discovery and intimacy our community is drawn to. People often mention, they forget they’re even without their phones.
Our planning synthesizes music curation, wellness practices, spatial design, and community insight. We pay close attention to the season, artists’ stories, and the emotional temperature in the zeitgeist.
Our intent is to create an energy flow, not just another event.
What does being part of the Feel the SPACE community mean? Is it open or invite-only?
Being part of Feel the SPACE can mean experiencing community in a way that is inherently musical, with elements of discovery, and shared humanity. Our audience often describes it as a space where strangers feel familiar and music becomes a bridge back to themselves.
The majority of our gatherings are open, though capacity does fill quickly. There are moments, like our seasonal Bloom or Summer experiences, when curated invites are made to artists or longtime community members to keep the evening intimate and aligned.
Our email and text list are currently the best way in. If you’re subscribed, you’re part of us. And you’ll always be the first to know when the next gathering arrives.
How do community partnerships fuel your work? Any favorites?
Partnerships expand what’s possible. They give us new canvases and dimensions of storytelling. Working with Spring Place allowed us to create a transformative rooftop experience overlooking Tribeca. Collaborating with Cadillac at the American Black Film Festival gave us space to honor Black music in film in Miami Beach. One that increased brand opinion and resonance while staying rooted in our ethos of soulful storytelling. One of our recent delights was with Silence Please, in Lower Manhattan. They understood the sacredness of sound the way we do.
Every collaboration works when the partner believes not just in the event, but in the intention behind it.
You release a yearly playlist of artists featured in your events. What’s the goal, and how do you choose the songs?
Our playlists are our way of honoring the artists who pour into our community. It’s part archive, part love letter, part sonic fingerprint of the year(s). We select songs inspired by the stories shared in the room, songs that create a lasting resonance, becoming a sense of mantra for us. Some are performances from the year; others are songs that capture each artist’s essence.
Ultimately, it’s a reflection of the emotional journey we’ve taken together. It’s also our way of amplifying inspiring and acclaimed artists who bring true musical stories like; KAMAUU, Shae Universe, Charity, Josiah Bassey, Dre Scott, Nyah Grace, KIRBY, Sebastian Mikael, Infinity Song and several others who have joined in the community. It’s a playlist shared as a gentle reminder of our collective effervescence.
You can find Feel the Space’s yearly playlists on Spotify.
What’s next for Feel the SPACE? Anything you can share?
We’re entering a season where we invite new kinds of partnerships, deepen collaborations, community rituals, and new ways people can experience Feel the SPACE beyond the room.
We’re excited to be exploring collaborations with wellness-driven brands & spaces, sober-curious communities, and artists who want to co-create more high-fidelity experiences. We are preparing for our growth, by also watering our support at the root.
In a city where the music scene often is loud, crowded, and fast-paced, Feel the SPACE offers an artistic experience that is just the opposite. Their small scale gatherings are meticulously cultivated and prioritize intimacy, connection, and wellness, just as much as sound.
